Branchville Frankford Softball and Sussex Wantage Softball Merge
As spring softball is quickly approaching we are excited to announce that Branchville/Frankford and Sussex Wantage Rec softball will be merging to form High Point rec softball. This is the perfect opportunity for the girls to start new friendships and also get familiar with playing alongside one another before they get into high school. As far as deciding who plays on what teams we think the seniors should remain the same being that these girls have been playing on the same team for years and wouldn’t be fair to break them up now. We will add to these teams where we see fit . The combining of players from both towns will take place from the rookie level on up to the juniors. Jenn Theobald and myself will sit down and go over registrations to determine who goes where. We will do our best to make the teams as fair as possible . From growing up in Sussex County we all know how hard it is to find field time during March due to the weather. We are lucky to have 2-3 practices before the season even starts. Over the last few years we have practiced in gyms in our towns. Although it’s nice for them to open the doors to us we can all agree that we are limited in what we can get done at practice due to the space and possible damage a softball can do to a window or the floors. So this year , starting in March, we will be doing our training/ workouts at Skylands Stadium. We will have professional trainers along with local high school players, that will train and help prepare them right up until it’s time go outside . We encourage the coaches to come to watch and pick up on what the trainers do so you can incorporate some of the drills into your practices. We firmly believe in more reps the better. Less standing around . We will have 8 hours of training available for the intermediate level on up to the senior level. Each level will have it’s own day. For instance , Intermediate will train from 5:30-7:30 on Wednesday’s. Starting 3/4 and go until 3/25. Juniors will go from 5:30-7:30 on Saturdays. Starting on 3/7 and go until 3/28. Seniors will go 8:30-10:30 on Sundays. Starting on 3/8 and go until 3/29. We will also bring in a pitching coach to help teach the girls the basic fundamentals in learning how to pitch and to help develop the players that have been pitching for a few years. There also will be a coach to work with catchers, infielders, outfielders and hitters. This is a great opportunity for our girls to learn from people that have had success in the game of softball. We will also be looking to do a 1 hour clinic for the rookies to introduce them to the game of softball. We will be doing on line registration as well as in person registration. The in person registration will take place at Skylands on (TBD.)At this time feel free to bring the girls in to take part in a free 2 hour clinic. Registration for the intermediate, juniors & seniors will be $125. Rookies will be $65.
• if you are registering 2 players from the intermediate level on up it will be a discount of $25. So it will be $225.
• $125 ( intermediate on up) per player gets the girls- a jersey, socks, full season and 8 hours of training at Skylands.
• $65 rookies gets the girls jersey, socks, season and 1 hour clinic (introduction to softball).
• All coaches are welcomed back!! And anyone that has interest in coaching please let us know.
• We are looking forward to building this program from the rookie level on up and bringing excitement back into the game of softball in our area. With the announcement of High Point Rec and with the professional training that has been made available this coming season, the Boards of both Sussex Wantage and BF Softball are confident this is a step in the right direction for our programs and your girls continued love of the game.
