1st ANNUAL COUNTRY GIRLS SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

High Point Heat Softball will be hosting its 2nd Annual Big Hoss Country Girls Softball Tournament in memory of Cory Jennings. The tournament will be held the weekend of May 16-17, 2020 at Frankford Park and surrounding fields. Cory passed away unexpectedly in July of 2018 leaving Bridget, his wife of 14 years, and children Jason and Megan. Through the years Cory was very involved in his kid's sports. After working hours at Beemerville Wrecking, with his neck and back in intolerable pain, he would show up to softball practice, ready and eager to help out the players and coaches. Catching, throwing, pitching, batting practice, pep talks, high fives, hugs or just a smile, Cory was always there for these kids. He gave tirelessly to his family, friends and community. Even when his daughter moved on to play a higher level of softball, Cory continued to show up to support the local players, as well as attending Megan's practices and games.

The Big Hoss Country Girls Softball Tournament is being held to honor the memory of Cory Jennings and to raise money to promote local youth sports. A portion of the proceeds will be used to create a scholarship in Cory's name to be awarded to a graduating High Point High School softball player. The hope is to make this an annual tournament to keep the memory of Cory alive for years to come. Our “Big Teddy Bear” may be gone, but he will NEVER be forgotten.
